Connecticut

A puritan minister named Thomas Hooker and Governor John Haynes of the Massachusetts Bay Colony founded Connecticut. Connecticut was originally known as the River Colony. It was formed on March 3, 1636, and was used as a haven for Puritan gentlemen. The colony had some early problems with the Dutch, but after that, the English gained control of it permanently by the late 1630s.  In 1639 Connecticut adopts our first constitution and makes John Haynes our first governor.

We have many mountains, trees, and rivers, but rocky, infertile soil. Like most of our other colonies in New England,  many men find jobs as fishermen, ship builders, and whalers. Because of our cold climate we have many animals with thick winter fur that we can sell and trade their fur to other colonies.
